By-Laws
Article
I Name
This
club is to be known as the “Men's Club of Gearhart
Article
II Purpose
Purpose
To promote golf and competition among the men that
play at Gearhart Golf Links.
To encourage a friendly, cooperative atmosphere in
which to compete.
Article
III Board of Directors
The Board of Directors includes the following officers:
President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, and Past President
Officers
Officers to be elected each year are as follows:
President
Vice
President
Secretary/Treasurer
The current Past-President will serve for one year
in an advisory capacity
Duties of the Officers
President – To conduct meetings and appoint committees
and chairmen as necessary.
Vice-President – Assist the President when called upon,
conduct meetings in his absence.
Secretary/Treasurer – keep minutes, records, correspondence,
pay bills, and deposit or withdraw money as necessary.
The Past-President will serve in an advisory capacity
Terms of office
1 year with ability to be re-elected once in succession,
longest single term of 2 years unless agreed upon by the membership.
Elections of officers
President would appoint a nomination committee. Said
committee brings a slate to the annual meeting with the ability for
other nominations to come from the floor. The election will be carried
out and officers will be installed immediately.
Article
IV Meetings
The
annual meeting shall occur within a month of the close of posting
season. Election of officers will occur at this meeting.
A
quarterly meeting schedule shall be put in place. The meetings may
be cancelled if the Board determines that there is no need for the
meeting.
Business
within the Men's Club may be conducted by the agreement of a majority
of the members present at a scheduled meeting.
A
special meeting may be called at the discretion of the Board of Directors
To
hold a special meeting, members must be notified of purpose of the
meeting at least one week in advance using acceptable notification
methods. A notice posted prominently in the pro shop, on the Courses
website, and/or through individual emails is considered to constitute
notification.
Article
V Finances
Dues
For
each member, yearly dues of $20.00 plus the cost of maintaining a
handicap is payable prior to participation in a Men's Club event
- Other Funds
Payout
schedule for tournaments is as follows:
If
a member calls in to play and fails to show, a fine of half the game's
buy-in will be assessed. One unexcused no-show will be allowed. The
Tournament Committee will handle no-shows

VI Committees
Handicap Committee
The
handicap committee is responsible verifying the posting of all MC
scores.
It
is the expectation of the MC that all applicable scored rounds of
golf be posted.
Tournament Committee
The Tournament committee will be appointed by the Club
President
Tournament committee will be comprised of three members
in good standing
Tournament committee will determine the formats for
the Weekend games prior to the start of the posting season
Committee meeting times will be posted so members can
attend
Types of Tournaments
Monthly Tournaments will be decided by the tournament
committee and run by pro shop. All monies collected will be paid out
in pro shop credit. A minimum of 25% of the field will receive pro
shop credit. The tournament committee will determine the course set
up with consultation with the club professional and superintendent.
Saturday Tournaments set up by Tournament Committee
prior to the start of the “posting” season
Sunday Tournaments will be randomly chosen from a pool
of available games
Club Championship format will be determined by the
tournament committee. The MC will follow all USGA rules with any rules
resolutions at the sole discretion of a PGA professional whose decision
is final.
Home and Home Matches and Ryder Cup
Tournament Eligibility
To play in the weekly games the person must be a member
in good standing of the men's club
To play in the weekly games, the member must call in
to the pro shop no later than Thursday at 4 PM before the Saturday
play. Failure to play after confirming spot will result in a fine.
If a member fails to call in and shows up to play, participation will
depend on the game being played and tee time demands. (Pro shop staff
will assist if this situation arises.) What about Sunday play?
To play in the Men's Club Championship the member must
have played in at least 25% of the weekend tournaments and/or 40%
of the Monthly tournaments. Attendance records will be maintained
in the pro shop. The Tournament Committee may be petitioned to modify
the requirements for the Men's Club Championship on a case by case
basis
Participation and scoring average may be used in determining
participation in “Home and Home” matches

Closest to the Pin (KP) - One par 3 will be randomly chosen each event
as the KP hole. If the green is not hit during a men's club event,
the KP money is ????
Article
VII Changes to By-Laws
The
By-Laws for the Men's Club of Gearhart Golf Links may be changed by
70% majority of the members in attendance of the meeting. Any intent
to change or modify the by-laws must be proceeded by a notification
to club members of at least one week using outlined notification methods.
